FAQs

Answers to some commonly asked questions about Smartpass

Q. Why choose e-learning?

A. E-learning allows you to deliver training to staff at any time and at a significantly lower cost than face-to-face equivalents ‘releasing time to care’. You can also easily report upon staff compliancy as well as automating revalidation and refresher training.

Q. What is an e-learning module?

A. An e-learning module is a single, subject specific course with a typical running time of 30-45 minutes. Modules are designed, through the use of interactivity and digital media, to provide a pedagogically sound and engaging learning experience for your staff.

Q. What is a Learner Management System (LMS)?

A. A learning management system (LMS) is the platform through which your staff access the e-learning modules, typically through an Internet browser. The LMS also handles staff registration, progress tracking, assessments (both offline and online), certificate generation and reporting. As a Smartpass client you are provided with your own branded, standalone instance of the LMS.

Q. Will I need to install any software?

A. The Smartpass LMS is a fully cloud based solution, accessible through a standard Internet browser. As such there is no need to install any software on your computers or networks.

Q. Can I create my own e-learning modules?

A. Smartpass includes a content authoring tool allowing you to create your own e-learning content. You are also free to copy and modify any of the e-learning modules in the catalogue to align with local need. We can provide full training on the use of the content authoring tool via blended learning methods.

Q. How often are new modules added?

A. New modules are added on a regular basis and we will keep you informed of new releases, as well as modules we are developing. You can also request modules for inclusion if you have specific requirements.

Q. Can I access the courses on any device?

A. Smartpass is accessible on any Internet connected device including smart phones and tablets. We do however recommend the use of tablets for mobile access – smart phones, due to their small screen size, do not always provide the best learning experience.

Q. What is a blended approach?

A. A blended approach combines online (e-learning, automated assessments) with offline activities, such as written assessments and case studies. The Smartpass LMS provides a fully blended option which you can tailor to your exact specification.

Q. Is it possible to record offline training?

A. Yes. The Smartpass LMS includes tools to allow your staff to upload offline assignments, assessments and evidence of attendance at face-to-face sessions.

Q. How much will Smartpass cost?

A. Smartpass pricing is based upon unlimited access to the entire Smartpass e-learning catalogue on an annual per user basis. Whilst at a very affordable price point, we offer significant discounts for multiple user licences, so please contact us for a personalised quote.

Q. What is a hosted solution?

A. As a fully hosted solution there is no need for you to install any software locally – all components of the Smartpass suite are accessed through standard Internet browsers. All server and bandwidth costs are included as standard within your licence fee.

Q. Will I receive support?

A. We provide a full support service by both remote desktop, e-mail and telephone. In addition we are more than happy to travel to you for training on any elements of Smartpass, including the use of the management and content authoring tools.

Q. Would it be possible to try before I buy?

A. By all means. You can actually sign up now and have a free, no obligation trial at the following address: http://trial.smart-pass.co.uk

Q. What kind of courses do you offer?

A. The Smartpass healthcare module catalogue covers (although is not limited to) the Care Certificate, Core Skills Statutory and Mandatory training, Prescribing, Leadership, Operational management and Waste Management. We also welcome suggestions for new modules, so please get in touch if there is something you would like us to include for you. Our full catalogue can be downloaded from the Online Courses page.
